Barry was born in Bolton Lancashire but has lived most of his life in Blackpool. He is married with three children. He retired after working for thirty five years in the nuclear fuel industry where he held managerial post in areas of Chemical Plant Operations, Manufacturing Operations, Engineering Operations and Commercial operations.  He served as a school governor of St Mary’s Catholic College from 1995 to 2014 and Christ the King Catholic Primary school from 2005 until 2014.  In August 2014 he became a member of the Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy trust and was elected as Chair of the Board of Directors.

Paul was born in Blackpool and received both his primary and secondary education in Catholic Schools in the town. He joined the Civil Service on leaving School and remained there for thirty four years until early retirement in 2006. He has served as a Trustee of Caritas Care [formerly known as Catholic Caring Services] for more than twenty five years. In 1983, he became one of the four founding Trustees of Homeless in Blackpool, a charity formed to provide relief to homeless people. A Foundation Governor of St Mary’s Catholic College since 1996, he joined the Governing body of Christ The King Catholic Primary School in 2005.

Elizabeth Boniface (Foundation Director)

Liz was born and brought up in Blackpool.  She was educated at Layton Hill Convent before going to Digby Stuart Teacher Training College, London.  She is married to Michael with five sons who all attended St Mary's between 1986 & 2004.  Now retired from the Deputy Head teacher role at St John Vianney's Catholic Primary School, Blackpool she has a vast experience of primary education.  She now enjoys seeing more of my family & friends; school governance; volunteering with the National Trust; choral singing and occasionally working as a TV extra.  Her other interests include a love of reading, travel, walking & swimming

Fr James Burns (Foundation Director)

Fr Jim is the parish priest of Our Lady of the Assumption, Blackpool. He was born in Morecambe and studied at Our Lady’s High School in Lancaster. He obtained a diploma in engineering at Lancaster & Morecambe College and a degree in science & mathematics at Preston Polytechnic. Before priesthood he worked for 12 years in the Space Environment Group at Lancaster University gaining a PhD. He went on to study for the priesthood in Rome and was ordained in 1998.
He served as assistant priest at the Cathedral and Bishop’s Chaplain in Lancaster, and as assistant priest in the House of Formation at Cleator, West Cumbria. Before moving to Blackpool Fr Jim served as parish priest at St Mary’s, Great Eccleston and St Joseph’s, Lancaster, where he was also chaplain to St Bede’s, Lytham and Our Lady’s College, Lancaster, respectively.
He has two brothers who are also priests in the Diocese.

Monika Graham (Parent Director)

Monika is a Level 3 Qualified Teaching Assistant with an interest in education; since her son has started school she also has a vested interest in its quality.  She has actively engaged with teachers, taken a role in the Parent Teachers Association as well as dedicating a lot of time and effort into continuing her son’s education at home.  She is committed to seeing schools provide local children with the best education possible within the resources available to them.  She volunteers at a school and is keen to use this experience to help her play a part in the strategic development of the Trust.

Camilla was born and brought up in Blackpool and educated at Layton Hill Convent.  She has three sons who all attended St Mary's and one of whom currently teaches there.  She was appointed as a Foundation Governor of St Mary's Catholic College in 1988 and of Christ the King in 2005.  With more than twenty five years’ experience of working in Adult Social Care in Blackpool and Lancashire , most recently as Head of Service for the County, she brings a wealth of experience of public services, leadership of complex organisations and management of people to this role.

She was recently elected to serve as a Public Governor on Blackpool Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Michael Humpreys CBE (Foundation Director)

Mike is a retired secondary school head teacher having led schools in Liverpool, Lancashire, Blackburn and Manchester. Post retirement, he worked as a consultant in Manchester, supporting schools in difficulty as acting/associate head teacher. He ceased this work at the end of 2006 but continued to support schools in Manchester, Blackpool, Halton and Wirral as a School Improvement Partner. He is currently a governor of two schools in Wigan and a Director of the St. John Boste Catholic Academy Support Trust. He was awarded a CBE for his contribution to education in 2002.

Elizabeth Kelly (Foundation Director)

Liz graduated as a Catholic Primary School Teacher in 1974 from Craiglockhart College of Education and worked in a variety of primary schools some in challenging circumstances both in Scotland & in Lancashire, England. She was appointed Headteacher to St Peter’s in in Lytham in 1997 and after 17 years at the helm retired in August 2014. Since January 2006 she has also worked part-time as an Associate Advisor in the Monitoring & Intervention Team (MIT) within Lancashire Education Authority supporting & developing both Teaching & Learning and Leadership & Management in schools in challenging circumstances. She continues to work on a part-time basis with the Monitoring and Intervention Team. She enjoy working with a variety of schools and is pleased to be part of the Blessed Edward Bamber Multi Academy Trust. Liz is also a Director of the St. John Boste Catholic Academy Support Trust.

Paul Marley (Foundation Director)

Paul has over thirty years of direct teaching and local government experience in secondary and further education. He is academically qualified to Master's level with a formal teaching qualification and held responsibilities at Head of Department, Senior Education Officer and FE Vice-Principal levels.  He has fifteen years’ service as a Fylde magistrate and twenty three years of pastoral ministry as a Permanent Deacon. His particular interest is the delivery of quality teaching, to all levels of attainment and ability, and in the effective and efficient management of the schools themselves.  He is committed to the maintenance of the Catholic ethos of our academies and to the close involvement of parents in the education of their children.

Sue was born and spent the first 23 years of her life in Durham City before moving to the Fylde Coast. Her career was as a Civil Servant then an employee of Siemens Business Services in the Finance Sector. For the last 25 years Sue worked in IT as a Software Engineer before taking early retirement. She is married with 2 children, both of whom were educated at Christ the King and St Mary’s. Sue became a governor in 2007 after being elected a ward councillor in Blackpool. Since losing her seat in 2011, she has been appointed as a magistrate to the Fylde Coast Bench. She also works closely with a Blackpool Children’s charity which is developing links with St Mary’s.

Christine was a former foundation governor of St Cuthbert's RC Primary School, where she served for seven years, latterly as Vice Chair. She states her time as a school governor placed her, “In the working company of some wonderful, inspiring people, who have only the best interests of children's education in mind.”  She looks forward to continuing her new role in the same vein.  A former pupil of St Mary's she left to join BAE Systems PLC to undertake an engineering apprenticeship. She will bring many years’ experience of working on a large multi-discipline project to the work of the Trust.  Her work will involve helping the Trust meet the challenges of communication and information sharing, together with the inevitable pressure to improve.

Michelle Staveley (Parent Director)

Michelle attended St. Mary’s a number of years ago and is very proud that her eldest daughter who also attended the school is starting her second year at university training to be a teacher. Her youngest daughter is tackling her GCSEs. Michelle believes that part of the ethos of St Mary’s is to teach our children about Catholic values; being part of a community and contributing to that community. As a practising Catholic this is something she strongly believes in and has put into practice. For example, she volunteered as a Cub Scout leader for 15 years, Treasurer of a PTFA for three years, helped prepare children for their first Holy Communion and now helps with fundraising at Trinity Hospice. Professionally she has a finance background and is currently part of the finance team at the Hospice.

Stephen Tierney (Executive Director)

Stephen is currently Executive Director of the Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust.  Prior to this he was Executive Headteacher of Christ the King Catholic High School and St. Mary’s Catholic College.  He was appointed Headteacher of St. Mary’s Catholic College in September 2000.

He is currently co-chair of the Specialist Schools & Academies Trust’s Vision 2040 Group and acts as a course leader for the Aspiring Senior Leader Programme.  He engages in social media via twitter (@LeadingLearner) and through his blog.  He is a Director of @LeadingLearner Ltd.

Richard Turpin (Director)

Richard was born in Preston and received his primary and secondary education at catholic schools in the town.  He has been a Chartered Surveyor for over thirty years and has extensive property experience in both the public and private sectors having worked for the Department of Environment , Co-operative Insurance Society and a private development company in Manchester.
For 16 years Richard worked with Eric Wright Group in Preston serving as a main board director and Managing Director of its Facilities Management and Partnerships divisions.During that period, Richard was responsible for the development of Fleetwood High School where he served as a Trustee to the Education Trust for four years, and primary schools in Cheshire.
In Blackpool, Richard was instrumental in the development of Whitegate Drive primary healthcentre and three elderly care rehabilitation centres for the NHS and led the procurement team that designed and built Highfield school , St Mary's and Christ the King , refurbished Unity College as well as a number of other primary schools in the town.
Richard is married with three daughters and enjoys travel. mountain walking and is a flying member of Bowland Forest Gliding Club.

Fr John Winstanley (Foundation Director)

Fr. John is the parish priest of Christ the King and St Kentigern, Blackpool, and priest chaplain to St Mary's Catholic Academy. He was ordained priest in 1999 in his home parish of Garstang for the Diocese of Lancaster. Fr. John has served as assistant priest in Carlisle, Preston, and Blackpool, including ten years in hospital ministry and as parish priest in Ansdell. Prior to training for the priesthood, he had a career in retail with Sainsbury's for six years.
He is the youngest of five children and uncle to thirteen nephews and nieces.
