If formed the Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust will become the employer of all staff in schools that decide to convert to academy status.  The academies who are members of the trust all value the staff they employ.  As such the trust will retain teachers’ current pay & conditions as defined in the STPCD, for as long as it exists, and support staff will retain their current local terms and conditions of employment.  The trust will continue to use the Catholic Education Service Contract for all employees and Catholic Education Service policies, where available.  These are available to view at: http://www.catholic-education.org.uk/schools/model-policies-and-procedures 

Staff’s pension entitlement will be unaffected if a school governing body decides to become an academy.  

All terms and conditions of employment are protected by the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 and staff’s continuity of service will continue on transferring to the Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust.  

The multi academy trust will endeavour to provide strong centrally determined strategic direction.  This will include agreement of statutory policies for all the schools in the trust and key HR policies as part of fulfilling their responsibilities as employers.  This will ensure a high degree of coherence on key matters across the trust.  However, the trust will ensure that operational matters are dealt with at an individual school level so as to protect the unique elements within each school and allow decisions to be made at the appropriate level.  For example, whilst seeking to share best practice across the trust, policies on teaching & learning or marking would be developed at a school level.
